65 ; In Our Golden Era

Many see sixty five as an ending, we see it as the start of our golden era.

As we enter this year with wisdom, experience, and maturity, our golden era begins. Sixty five years of showing up. Of believing. Of choosing women and girls again and again, even when the road ahead was uncertain.

Sixty five years ago, Kianda Foundation began as a quiet act of faith. No grand stages. No loud announcements. Just a simple, courageous belief: that when you educate a woman, you change everything. Her life, her family, her community, her future.

In 1961, that belief took root. And like all meaningful things, it grew slowly.

It grew in classrooms where girls first learned to raise their hands and trust their voices. It grew in training kitchens and workshops where young women discovered the dignity of work and the pride of skill. It grew in moments no one photographed, a mother returning to school, a student refusing to give up, a graduate stepping into her first job with steady hands and quiet confidence.

What has sustained Kianda Foundation for sixty five years is not buildings or programmes alone. It is people. It is courage passed from one generation to the next. It is the unseen chain of women lifting other women, sometimes gently, sometimes fiercely, but always forward.

Across generations, Kianda has been many things to many women:

a school

a second chance

a safe place to dream again.

But the true legacy of Kianda Foundation cannot be captured in numbers alone.

It lives in the mother who can now provide for her children. In the young woman who dares to imagine a future bigger than her circumstances. In the ripple effect of one empowered woman lifting another.

Sixty five years later, we pause, not because the work is finished, but because the journey has been profound.

We honour the women who came before us, the visionaries who believed, the educators who showed up, the students who dared to try. We celebrate the resilience, the quiet strength, the moments of doubt met with determination. And we look ahead with the same faith that started it all.

Because the story of Kianda Foundation has never been about buildings or programmes. It has always been about becoming.

As we turn sixty five this year, we stand in deep gratitude, for every life touched, every story transformed, every dream nurtured. And with hope in our hearts, we step into the future, ready to continue doing what we have always done best:

Educating. Empowering. Transforming lives, one woman at a time.

Sixty five years on, the work continues. And the story is far from over.
