Updated: May 28

In the heart of every great institution lies a force of dedicated individuals committed to transforming lives. At Kianda Foundation’s hospitality college, Kimlea Girls Technical Training and the Kibondeni & Tewa Colleges - Nurisha Trust, this force is embodied by the incredible women who lead in education and mentorship. These female teachers and trainers do more than impart knowledge; they ignite passion, instill confidence, and shape a new reality for empowered women in the hospitality industry.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month under the theme Accelerate Action, we recognize these remarkable women who are not just educators but also mentors, role models, and lifelong friends to the young women they train. Through their unwavering dedication, they are accelerating change—paving the way for a future where women in hospitality thrive as leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

More Than Teachers—Mentors for Life

Hospitality is more than just service; it is an art that blends skill, creativity, and a deep understanding of people. At Kianda Foundation’s colleges, the women who teach and train students go beyond textbooks and practical lessons. They take the time to mentor, encourage, and guide young women who often come from underprivileged backgrounds, helping them believe in their potential and rise above their circumstances.

Many of our students enter these programs with little more than a dream. Through the dedication of their teachers, they gain more than just technical expertise; they develop resilience, professionalism, and the confidence to excel in the hospitality industry. These trainers share not just their knowledge but also their personal experiences, offering invaluable guidance on overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities.

Accelerating Action; The Ripple Effect of Empowerment

The impact of these women extends far beyond the classroom. By training young women in hospitality, they are equipping them with skills that lead to financial independence, career growth, and even entrepreneurship. Many of our graduates go on to manage restaurants, work in top hotels, or start their own businesses, bringing along the values and skills imparted by their mentors.

By accelerating action, these trainers are rewriting the future—not just for their students but for generations to come. Their influence creates a ripple effect, where each woman they train becomes a source of inspiration for others, proving that with the right guidance, any dream is achievable.

The Path to Financial Independence

Achieving financial independence is a fundamental goal for many women entering the hospitality industry. The programs provided at these colleges focus on practical skills and life lessons that go hand in hand. Students are taught the intricacies of managing finances, understanding business operations, and developing leadership qualities.

This structured approach not only aids in their personal development but also prepares them for the realities of the job market. Graduates emerge from their training equipped not just with knowledge but also with the confidence to negotiate salaries, advocate for themselves, and make informed career choices.

Networking and Building Community

Another vital aspect of these programs is the emphasis on networking. The hospitality industry thrives on connections, and the colleges encourage students to build relationships with industry professionals.

Guest speakers, workshops, and networking events allow students to meet established figures in the field. These interactions not only provide insights into the industry but also open doors for internships and job placements. By fostering a sense of community, the colleges ensure that their students have support even after graduation.

Celebrating the Women Who Lead the Way

This Women’s History Month, we honor these phenomenal educators who continue to push boundaries, uplift others, and redefine what it means to be a leader in the hospitality industry. Their dedication fuels progress, their mentorship transforms lives, and their passion accelerates action.

To all the female teachers and trainers at Kianda Foundation’s hospitality colleges: thank you for being the guiding light for so many young women. Through your work, you are not just shaping careers—you are shaping futures.
